'The Three Mullet Buckaroos'
"The Three Mullet Buckaroos"
Sitting behind the buckin chutes one summer day
Three young lads
Were discussing broncs, ladies, cattle prices, and the usual things young hands discuss
Flat hats, well worn chaps and those Copenhagen teeth grinnin
They look like the typical day working buckaroo
But somethin is a bit different
You see
Most cowhands have clean cropped shorn hair
Much like the men in the service
The only shaggy haired fellows
Are those professional bull riding fellows
However these young hands
Won't settle for that
Instead underneath those hats
Isn't shorn or close cropped
Nor is it long and shaggy
Rather a bit of both
They claim it makes the cowgirls grin
And the old timers complain
"cut your hair son" they say
But these young buckaroos explain
"It is what they call a mullet"
"Sounds like a damn ole bug"
"No", said one of the boys
"In fact when you were still riding the broncs"
"You probably had one too"
The old timer just shook his head
"These kids", he mumbled
After the boys had rode
A tale was told
Of the three
Mullet headed buckaroos
